Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics will hold a business strategy meeting next year to find a breakthrough in the global crisis. In particular, while the aftermath of the “emergency martial law” and “impeachment” is expected to affect management next year, the increase in external variables from the launch of the second Trump administration to the high exchange rate also hurts management.
According to the business community on the 17th, Samsung Electronics plans to hold a “global strategic meeting for the second half of the year” for three days from the day to the 19th. On the same day, the company and the mobile experience (MX) division in the device experience (DX) division will hold a meeting, and on the 18th, the video display (VD) and home appliance (DA) divisions will hold a meeting. On the 19th, the device solution (DS) division in charge of the semiconductor business will hold a meeting.
The Global Strategy Meeting is a place where executives from home and abroad gather twice every year in June and December to share current issues by business sector and region and share opinions on next year’s business goals and sales strategies.
First, the DX division will discuss the Galaxy S25 series unpack (product unveiling event) and sales strategy. In particular, as it is known that new XR (extended reality) devices and Galaxy S25 slim models will be introduced next year, detailed product disclosure and release plans are expected to be exchanged.
The DS division is expected to seek solutions to the impact of the semiconductor market and securing competitiveness in the foundry (semiconductor consignment production) business next year, including HBM (high bandwidth memory).
In particular, as the second U.S. Donald Trump administration is set to take power, strategies for the U.S. chip law are expected to be discussed. Currently, Samsung Electronics has yet to finalize subsidies under the U.S. Chips Act.
In the case of the TV and home appliance business, it is expected to examine new products and operation plans for each product, including new products to be introduced at the world’s largest consumer electronics and IT exhibition “CES 2025” next year, and discuss ways to expand subscription services for Samsung TV Plus and home appliances.
LG Electronics will hold a company-wide expansion management meeting hosted by LG Electronics CEO Cho Joo-wan on the 20th. At this meeting, we will discuss next year’s management strategy and implementation plans.
